About Horizons

OUR TWENTIETH YEAR

In 1992, Marsha Rohe opened Horizons in order to provide enrichment classes for homeschoolers.  Since that time, hundreds of students have enjoyed a variety of classes in the Enrichment Program as well as academic classes for fifth grade and up.

Marsha Rohe has a lifetime Texas Teacher Certificate (Lamar University, 1974) with endorsements in English Language Arts and Reading 8-12, History 8-12, Elementary Education, Education of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired, and Speech Therapy.  Ms. Rohe recently completed a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Texas A&M, 2011).  She teaches the English and math courses at Horizons.

Della Beall holds a Bachelors degree from LeTourneau University.  Starting in 1997, Horizons served as a valuable outsource tool for the education of her three daughters, which prepared them for college.  Inspired by the excellence of the program, Mrs. Beall joined Horizons in 2002 as the science teacher.  She is enthusiastic in bringing the world of science to both elementary and secondary students.

Deborah Farmer earned a bachelor of science degree at Southwest Texas State University (1988) and a master of arts degree from the University of Houston (1990) in communication disorders.  She subsequently worked for Baylor College of Medicine as a Speech-Language Pathologist for six years.   Mrs. Farmer has homeschooled for the past twelve years.  In 2010 she joined the Horizons team as a social studies teacher.  She  coordinates and teaches the social studies program at Horizons, fifth grade and up.

Stephanie Atton attended the University of Houston and Texas Tech University as a graphic communications major where her wearable wool entry was awarded "Most Marketable Design."  She has designed sample garments for a fabric store and has created convention displays as well as layout and ad copy.  Mrs. Atton teaches Art at Horizons and throughout her tenure has helped numerous students develop artistic talent by engaging them in creative drawing and multi-media art experiences.

Horizons, with over 2500 square feet of space, is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Champion Forest and Louetta, two miles east of SH249.  For over nineteen years at this location, Horizons has served families from communities in the northwest Houston area including Cy-Fair, Tomball, Klein, Spring, Magnolia, Hockley, Aldine, and The Woodlands.
